Foster Outdoor

Art for the Mountain People.

I was lucky enough to be able to do some design work for the husband and wife team of Mike Turner and Sarah Wagener, the owners of Foster Outdoor. The store is an independent outdoor gear and consignment shop, and located in the oldest building in the Foster–Powell neighborhood. They asked me to come up with 3 different designs for some in house merch applications, so here are the ideas I came up with. I also did a window treatment design for them, just for fun.

Here is a deconstruction of the existing logo, arranged as camp signs to emphasize the brand identity.

The Tryptic–

This design is a nod to 3 large metal panels hanging above the retail space in the store. Incorporating mountains from the entirety of the west coast shows inclusion to the areas outside of Oregon as still belonging to the PNW.

The Mural–

This mural was hand painted in their retail space. I recreated it from scratch using photographs as reference points, then sampling the colors in Photoshop to apply to my vector files.
